Artem Saveliev/Artem Justin Hansen: A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words

These are "before" and "after" pictures of Artem Saveliev/Artem Justin Hansen. The first picture is of Artem and Forever Mother Torry Ann Hansen taken mid-end September 2009 at his orphanage in Primorye. The second picture is of Artem at Domodedovo Airport, Moscow, April 8, 2010

Here is a picture of the note Forever Mother Torry Ann Hansen sent with her throw-away.

I am writing in depth today, but I wanted to get these pictures up. They're important.

Does anyone know the Social Worker or Adoption agency responsible for facilitating this train wreck adoption?

Not yet. I'm trying to find out. A lot of information is out there, but that's a missing piece.

BBC: I only have long distance on my cell and it won't let me call overseas. I'd love to talk. If you call me at 614-0571-2999 I can give you my landline number and we can do an interview.

What this adoptive mother did was awful and I can't understand why she thought for one moment that what she did was in any way a good idea. It was cruel and she should be punished.

However, the truth is the Russian Orphanage directors lie to potential adoptive parents ALL THE TIME. A lot of medical information is left out or never told to the adoptive parents, I am an adoptive parent myself and still have many un answered questions about my child's medical history. Adoptive parents are lied too and some are not able to handle severely special needs children. Reform needs to come from the United States and Russia. Russia needs to realize that Fetal Alcohol Syndrome is a very serious disease and it needs to be disclosed to potential adoptive parents. There is no cure for it. IT IS NOT DISCLOSED OR EVEN CONSIDERED A DISEASE. Let's not forget the reason these orphans have these mental conditions is because of the abuse they suffered from their RUSSIAN birth mothers in the womb or after they were born. There are many other things that are withheld from the parents and don't think for a moment that the children at those orphanages are somehow taken care of in a proper manner. They are starved, rarely held, left in their own waste and sometimes even beaten or drugged. Let's be real and cover both sides of the story. How about all the amazing families that were formed by adoption and all the positive sides of American's adopting Russia's unwanted and neglected children. Don't forget without parents from the United States adopting, thousands of Russian children every year would be left neglected and rotting away in an orphanage until they are 16 and kicked out so they can sell drugs or be prostitutes.
Murdering a child no matter if they are biological or adopted is disgusting....it is heart breaking ...it is a crime that should get the most severe punishment but let's not forget that parents in every country, Even Russia, abuse and murder their children. I wish this were not the case but it is. It is not fair to single out Americans who commit this awful crime and make blanket statements that all American adoptive parents are the same.

Please do not misunderstand my intention, I am digusted at what happened to this boy. DISGUSTED but let's be honest about what really goes on.

It is my post above. I just want to say again that this woman deserves punishment. It is disgusting and cruel. I just really want reform and I want Russia and kazakhstan to understand that FAS and RAD are very real diseases that potential adoptive parents need to know about.

There is an article that mentions it was this agency that facilitated the adoption.

Until anyone has lived in the Adoptive mothers shoes you have NO IDEA what she went through. Most States will not allow you to dump the child into Social Services unless you pay. Care and counseling often times is hard to find for pediatrics, and even if you do housing them is over $60,000 a year - even "The Ranch" for disrupted International children isn't free. I know a couple that have struggled for 3 years with their adoptive children (sibling group) they have tried everything, they cannot live the children alone they have much more issues beyond the FAS, RAD, PTSD, Anger, etc., they will kill animals, destroy things, beat other children, etc., The Adoption Agency and the Orphanage both bare some responsibility. The Adoptive mother is guilty for being naive and believing these people.
I never have believed that adoptive families should travel blind and just adopt in country, I think they should travel to the country and meet the children in their setting and also host the child for 10-14 days in the USA - even then some disorders don't surface till later.
This is why so many disruptive networks have popped up, there is even a Yahoo group for adopting children of a disrupted adoption.
